Here are some answers to questions that you may have
Q. How long have you been photographing weddings?
I have been a professional photographer for over 30 years and have had the pleasure of photographing thousands of weddings throughout the years.
Q. How long will you stay at our wedding?
This depends upon the Collection that you have chosen, in all cases I will start the day about an hour before the beginning of your wedding ceremony, if the bride is at home or getting ready at the venue, this is a good time to get those casual getting ready photographs. If however you do not want to have these early photographs then we can arrange to meet at the church or venue, I will normally arrive about 45-mins before the start of the ceremony so that we are in good time for the arrival of the grooms men.
If we are photographing one of our storybook type of collections, due to the large amount of images taken throughout the day, we would normally start the photography first thing when make up and hairdressers start, so we can capture the" before and after" plus photographs of dresses, flowers, jewellery and every thing else. Photography continues on all collections up until the point that you sit down for your wedding breakfast, For storybook collections we stay into the wedding breakfast to cover general room shots, top tables speeches etc.
Evening photography can be added with prior arrangement, a small hourly charge may apply dependant on where the venue is located and the collection chosen. For storybook collections if the venue is local to my base, I will come back to cover first dance, firework displays and evening guests by prior arrangement.
Q. How much time should we allow for the photography?
If we are at a hotel for a civil ceremony, I would ask that we can have about an hour and a half from the point you and the wedding party leave the ceremony room. If you have chosen one of our storybook collections it would be good to extend this by another half hour to ensure we get all of the large number of photographs we require for this type of album.
If we are at a church location and are travelling to a hotel please add the journey time to these times .
All times are an approximation and could change due to unforeseen events, to take amazing photographs we need the time to do it.
Q.How quickly can we see our photographs after the wedding day?
I usually get all images sorted while you are on your honeymoon, this tends to normally be about two weeks, I will upload all the images to the website so that on your return home you can call me to receive your log on information to view.
Q. Do we see every image taken on the day?
No - on a large wedding with lots of guests and good photo opportunities I can sometimes shoot 1000 plus RAW image files many of which are duplicates of others, this is now possible because of digital capture and means that I can select the very best shot from each scenario taken to ensure the best expression in each case, with no eyes closed, half closed etc. We then will supply each best fully edited image for your proof images, quantity dependant on you chosen collection.
Q. What happens if it's bad weather or low light on our wedding day?
You can arrange almost every part of your wedding day - apart from the weather! When you wake up on this day you get what you get, there is no point in stressing about what you can not change. If it is very wet most churches and hotel venues have places that can be used inside, or sometimes hotels have entrances that are covered so that you can take photographs under them using the outside for the background and you can't always tell that you are under cover!
Low light levels are not a problem as I only use top professional cameras and fast lenses. I have worked in some very dark venues over the years and am able to overcome what might seem a problem.
Q. Do you give us the photographs straight from the camera?
No - every image that I supply to you will have had a degree of correction and artwork, no image straight from the camera is going to be at its best without some work. I use Photoshop to carry out this work.
Q. How many weddings do you do on one day?
Only yours! I Only do one wedding per day. I also do not use other photographers - you will always get me at your wedding.
As I only do your wedding, I will not go running off to another wedding half way through, this therefore means you have my full attention through out your day.
Q. Do you have another job outside of photography in the week?
I have worked in professional photography for over 30 years, I have never had any other type of job, (I am not a weekend photographer with other interests in the week ). I take photographs nearly every day of the week.
Q. What do the letters ABIPP / AMPA stand for?
I am a fully qualified associate member of The British Institute of Professional Photographers ( BIPP ) and,
The Master Photographers Association (MPA). These two organisations are main professional trade bodies within the photographic trade. To be part of them you have to be a full time photographer earning your income through photography, you also have to submit a panel of work for examination to assess the quality of your workmanship. I am an associate of both which is a higher level of achievement - it's not about just sending a cheque in!
Q. What if you are ill on the day and are unable to make the wedding?
As I have been in this trade for so many years I know quite a few other photographers, we will help others if we can if there is a major problem and it is just not possible to make it. I too have helped other photographers when there was sudden major illness.
As a qualified member of the above BIPP / MPA both have a nationwide base of photographers who would be able to find somebody to cover the wedding if required - I have never had to do this though.
Q. Are you insured?
Yes I am! I am a registered professional photographic business, I have full public liability and professional indemnity insurance cover for your peace of mind. (Not all wedding photographers are.)
Q. What camera equipment do you use?
I use top professional Nikon cameras and lenses for ultimate quality.
Q. What if your camera stops working at my wedding?
I have spare cameras / flash guns and a lot of lenses, I would never attend a wedding with just a single camera, you never just know when you might need another.
Q. Are there any travel costs?
I do not charge for travel if it is within a 25 mile radius of my base, if a distance over and above is required then we will agree to a fee by prior arrangement.
Q. How can we book you for our wedding?
Firstly would you please give me a call to see if your date is available.
I ask for a deposit of £100.00, this then secures the date for you, it can be paid by cash, cheque or by bank transfer. I do not take card payments. A booking form is available to down load from this site, please complete, sign and return this to me with the deposit. I will then copy it and return it to you with a receipt for your payment. Final payments are due four to six weeks prior to the wedding date.
Please call if you need any further information
